Free Pattern!! The “Autumn Landscapes Infinity Scarf”!!!

News

As you might have figured, I am obsessed with beanie and cowl/infinity scarf sets this fall!!  I have designed at least 5 (see my Etsy Shop) and I may not stop here!!

My newest design is called the “Autumn Landscapes Infinity Scarf and Beanie Set”.  I really like it and it is so toasty warm.  (I was trying it out in 20 degree weather today!)

Yarn

The yarn I chose for this project is from Lion Brand and it is colorway, “Mountain Range”.  It is 100% Acrylic, Machine Wash – Gentle and Dry Flat.  The colors are so vibrant and are so appropriate to this time of year in Wisconsin – so Autumn!!!

Texture

The beanie and infinity scarf have a wonderful texture and the scarf itself is divided into 6 sections – every other section changes in stitch and texture.

–   Crochet Hook,  Size “H”/5.00 mm

  •  Scissors
  • Tape Measure
  • Stitch Marker
  • Snap On Faux Fur Pompon (optional)

Beanie Pattern

Adult Size

(This hat is made by working the ribbing as flat fabric and seaming into the round.  Then the rest of the beanie is worked in the round all the way to the top.)

Ribbing

Using the “H”/5.00 mm Hook, Chain 8.

Row 1:  Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook.  Then sc in each chain across the row.  Ch 1. Turn.  (7 st)

Row 2:  Work 1 sc in the first sc.  Then work 1 scblo in each stitch across the rest of the row until the last stitch.  Work a regular sc in the last stitch.  Ch 1.  Turn.  (7 st)

Repeat Row 2 till the fabric measures approximately 19 inches.  This will be 64 rows (32 ribs).  Be sure to end with an even number of rows.  Remember, you can make this hat larger by increasing the number of rows or smaller by decreasing the number of rows.  Again, just be sure you end up with an even number of rows.

Seam the short ends of the ribbing fabric by matching the right sides (both sides are basically the same so either side is fine) of the fabric and seaming the short ends together using a single crochet stitch.  This will be about 7 single crochet stitches.  Don’t fasten off.  Turn the seam to the inside.

Body of the Hat

Round 1:  Ch 1.  Single crochet in each of the rows around the hat.  Slip stitch to the top of the first sc.  This is the only row that you will slip stitch to the beginning sc. Ch 1.  (64 st).  DO NOT TURN.

Round 2:  Sc in each sc around the hat.  You will now just keep working around.  When  you get to the end of the row, just keep going.  If desired, you can place a stitch marker at the end of each round.  Just keep moving the marker up until you reach 9 inches.   No slip stitch to first st and no Ch 1.

Keep working rows of sc until the beanie, including the ribbing, measures 9 inches tall.

End these rows where the stitch marker is.  If you choose not to use a stitch marker, find the seam of the ribbing and end the sc rounds even with that seam.

(Finishing Rounds)  Work 1 sc in the first  stitch.  *Skip 1 sc,  work 1 sc in the next stitch.*. Repeat from * to * all the way around.  Do not sl st to first st.  Just continue working around until you have 3 or 4 stitches left.

Fasten off leaving a tail of yarn to close up the top.

Using yarn needle and the basting stitch, close the small hole left at top of hat.  Weave in ends at top and at ribbing.  Attach pompon, if desired.

Scarf Pattern

Using “H”/5.00 mm Hook

Ch 40

(This pattern has 6 stitch sections.  All sections are connected.  You just change the stitch when you get to where the next stitch pattern should start.)

Section 1

Row 1 (Right Side):  Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across the row.  Ch 1.  Turn.  (39 st)

Row 2:  (Wrong Side)  Sc in the first sc.  *Tr in the next sc, sc in the next sc*.  Repeat from * to * across the row.  Ch 1.  Turn.  (39 st)

Row 3:  Sc in each st across.  Ch 1.  Turn.  (39 st)

Row 4:  Sc in the first sc.  *Tr in the next sc.  Sc in the next sc.*  Repeat rom * to *.  Ch 1.  Turn.  (39 st)

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for the pattern until this section measures 24 inches.  DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

Section 2

Row 1:  Sc in the first st and in each stitch across the row.  Ch 1.  (39 st)

Repeat Row 1 until this section measures 4 inches.  DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

Row 3:  Sc in each st across.  Ch 1.  Turn.  (39 st)

Row 4:  Sc in the first sc.  *Tr in the next sc.  Sc in the next sc.*  Repeat rom * to *.  Ch 1.  Turn.  (39 st)

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for the pattern until this section measures 13.5 inches.  DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

Section 4

Row 1:  Sc in the first st and in each stitch across the row.  Ch 1.  (39 st)

Repeat Row 1 until this section measures 6 inches.  DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

Row 3:  Sc in each st across.  Ch 1.  Turn.  (39 st)

Row 4:  Sc in the first sc.  *Tr in the next sc.  Sc in the next sc.*  Repeat rom * to *.  Ch 1.  Turn.  (39 st)

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for the pattern until this section measures 9.5 inches.  DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

Section 6

Row 1:  Sc in the first st and in each stitch across the row.  Ch 1.  (39 st)

Repeat Row 1 until this section measures 3 inches.  DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

Seam the short ends of the fabric by matching the right sides of the fabric and seaming them together using a single crochet stitch.  This will be about 39 single crochet stitches.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

Turn the scarf so that the seam is on the inside.

Done!!  So  cute!!!
