Materials Needed:
– 1 skein Aran weight #4 yarn (Any color). (I used Lion Brand “Vanna’s Choice”.I made multiple pouches and used Valentine colors like red, hot pink, light pink, etc.
– Crochet Hook Size G/4.25 mm
– Yarn needle for working in all loose ends
Finished Size (When Laid Flat)
– 9 inches long and 8 inches wide
Gauge: 8 rows = 4 inches; 11 hdc = 4 inches
“Valentine Pouch” Pattern
Round 1: Using the “Magic Circle”, Ch 1. Work 8 sc in the circle. Join with slip stitch to top of first sc. (8 sc)
Round 2: Ch 1. Work 2 hdc in each stitch around. Join to first hdc with slip stitch.
(16 hdc)
Round 3: Ch 1. *Work 1 hdc in first stitch. Work 2 hdc in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join to first hdc with slip stitch.
Round 4: Ch 1. *Work 1 hdc in next 2 stitches. Work 2 hdc in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join to first hdc with slip stitch.
Round 5: Ch 1. *Work 1 hdc in next 3 stitches. Work 2hdc in next stitch. * Repeat from * to * around Join to first hdc with slip stitch.
Round 6: Ch 1. *Work 1 hdc in next 4 stitches. Work 2hdc in next stitch. * Repeat from * to * around Join to first hdc with slip stitch.
Round 7 – 15: Ch 1. Work 1 hdc in each stitch around. Join to first hdc with slip stitch.
Round 16 – 18: Ch 1. Work 1 sc in each stitch around. Join to first sc with slip stitch.
Round 19: Ch 2. Work 1 dc in each stitch around. Join to first dc with slip stitch.
Round 20 – 21: Ch 1. Work 1 sc in each stitch around. Join to first sc with slip stitch.
Round 22: (Scallop Row). Ch 2. Work 2 dc in same stitch as Ch 2. *Skip 1 stitch. Work 1 sc in next stitch. Skip 1 stitch. Work 5 dc in next stitch*. Repeat from * to * 10 times. Skip 1 stitch. Work 2 more dc in first opening where you had Ch 2 and 2 dc. (This should make 5 dc in that opening.). Slip stitch to top of Ch 2. Ch 1 and finish off. Work in all loose ends.
Drawstrings: (Make 2)
Ch 65. End off.
With purse flat, start at right side and weave one drawstring through Row 19 of purse…..going over dc, under dc , over dc, under dc all the way around.
With purse flat, starting at left side, weave second drawstring through same Row 19 and with same over, under, over, under weaving technique all the way around.
Tie ends of each drawstring together.
