New FREE Crochet Flower Pattern

Patterns - Embellishments . Video Tutorials

Here is a new large crochet flower free pattern!  It comes with a tutorial!   This is my first tutorial and I would really appreciate your feedback!

Crochet Flower FREE Pattern — 5-Petal One Layer Large Flower

(Use this to embellish hats, headwarmers, and purses!  Especially cute on purses for little girls!)

This is also a great way to not only create beautiful flowers, but to use up small amounts of beautiful yarns you have in your yarn stash!  It is also very fun to make and it goes together really fast!!!  Enjoy!

Skill Level:  Advanced Beginner

Sizes:
Completed flower is approximately 4 1/2 inches wide  (this will be determined by your   tension, guage size of yarn and size of hook.)

Use Size I Crochet Hook  (I used this size hook to get the larger size flower, but you can actually use any size hook to get the size that you want…..try all kinds of sizes!  It’s fun to see what you can come up with!)

Materials Needed:

–  Small amounts of Aran weight yarns (#4) in 2 colors of your choice   One color will be used for the center of the flower and the other will be used for the 5 petals.
–  Crochet Hook, Size I, 5.50 mm

–  Yarn Needle  (Used for working in loose yarn ends and for sewing the flower to the hat, headwarmer or purse.)

Gauge:  Guage doesn’t really matter for this pattern.  Just try different hooks (and/or different types of yarn) to get a bigger or smaller flower.

Flower:

(Please refer to my video tutorial for help with this pattern.)

Round 1: (Use the color you have chosen for the center of the flower.)  Using the “Magic Circle”, Work 10 dc in the circle.  Join with slip stitch to top of first dc.   (10 dc)  Fasten off and cut yarn, leaving a length of yarn about 4 or 5 inches long.

Round 2: (Use the color of yarn that you have chosen for the petals.)  (This row creates the base for the petals.)  Insert hook into the dc just to the right of where you fastened off the yarn for the flower center.  Yarn over and pull yarn through the dc.  * Ch 5.  Skip 1 dc.  Slip stitch in the next sc. *   Repeat from * to * 4 more times.

Round 3:  (Continue to use the same color yarn as was used in Round 2.  This is the row that creates the 5 petals.)  Slip stitch in first Ch 5 space.   **Ch 3.  Work 6 treble crochet in Ch 5 space.  Ch 3. Slip stitch in same Ch 5 space.**   This creates the first “petal” of the flower.   Slip stitch in 2nd Ch 5 space.  Repeat from ** to **  3 more times.  Slip stitch in stitch between 5th and 1stpetals.   Ch 1 and fasten off leaving a length of yarn about 20 inches long.  (This is used to sew the flower to the hat or purse.) This will complete all 5 petals of the flower.  Weave in all of the other loose yarn.

Sew your completed flower to your finished hat.  Enjoy!

Thank you, so easy to follow. I've been teaching my 8 year old grand daughter, and I sat her with the iPad (they know more than me sadly about technology) and she made her first flower! It was beautiful, now she gone flower mad lol
