Materials Needed:
– 2 skeins Medium #4 yarn in 2 different colors (I used Caron Simply Soft Yarn in Off-White and Blackberry for these hats.)
– Crochet Hook, Size G/4.00 mm
– Yarn Needle (Used for working in loose yarn ends.)
Gauge: 12 dc sts = 4 inches
(I crochet pretty loosely. If you crochet tighter, you may want to
adjust to smaller hooks to get your desired size.)
Hat Pattern (For the Solid Hat)
Size: 0 – 3 months
Round 1: Using the “Magic Circle”, Ch 1. Work 12 dc in the circle. Join with slip stitch to top of first dc. (12 dc)
Round 2: Ch 2. Work 2 dc in each stitch around. Join to first dc with slip stitch.
(24 dc)
Round 3: Ch 2. *Work 1 dc in first stitch. Work 2 dc in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join to first dc with slip stitch. (36 dc)
Round 4: Ch 2. *Work 1 dc in next 8 stitches. Work 2 dc in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join to first dc with slip stitch. (40 dc)
Round 5 – 9: Ch 2. Work 1 dc in each stitch around. Join to first dc with slip stitch.
Round 10 – 12: Ch 1. Work 1 sc in each stitch around. Join to first sc with slip stitch.
Fasten off yarn and weave in loose ends.
Hat Pattern (For the Striped Hat)
Size: 0 – 3 months
Main Color (MC) – Off-White
Contrasting Color (CC) – Blackberry
Round 1: (MC) Using the “Magic Circle”, Ch 1. Work 12 dc in the circle. Join with slip stitch to top of first dc. (12 dc)
Round 2: (Change to CC) (Ch 2. Work 2 dc in each stitch around. Join to first dc with slip stitch.
(24 dc)
Round 3: (Change to MC) Ch 2. *Work 1 dc in first stitch. Work 2 dc in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join to first dc with slip stitch. (36 dc)
Round 4: (Change to CC) Ch 2. *Work 1 dc in next 8 stitches. Work 2 dc in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join to first dc with slip stitch. (40 dc)
Round 5 – 9: (Continue to alternate MC and CC….. Rows 5, 7 and 9 are in MC; Rows 6 and 8 are in CC) Ch 2. Work 1 dc in each stitch around. Join to first dc with slip stitch.
Round 10 – 12: (Rows 10 – 12 are all done in CC.) Ch 1. Work 1 sc in each stitch around. Join to first sc with slip stitch.
Fasten off yarn and weave in loose ends.

No, it fills in like a double crochet but isn't included in the count.
