Leaf Pattern
(Using Dusty Green Yarn)
(Make 2)
Chain 11 . In the fourth ch from the hook, work 4 dc. Work 1 dc in each of the next 4 ch. In the next ch, work 1 hdc. In the next ch, work 1 sc. In the last ch, 1 sl st, 1 ch, 1 sl st. Now work up the other side of the leaf. 1 sc in first ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of the next 4 ch. 4 dc in the last ch.
To add the stem, ch 5. Turn and 1 sc in each chain. Sl st in the first stitch of the leaf. Fasten off and keep 15 inch length of yarn to sew leaf onto hat.
Attaching Leaves to Hat
Using the photograph for leaf placement, sew both leaves to the hat. To attach, sew right along center line (vein) of each leaf. Be sure to have the stems at the top center of the hat. When both leaves are attached, use the remaining yarn from one of the leaves to sew the stems together. Sew right through the center of the stem and then wrap the yarn around the base of the stem. Fasten off securely and weave in loose ends of yarn.
Button
Using the same green yarn as was used for the leaves, sew the button on to the hat. Please refer to the photo for button placement. Weave in loose ends of yarn.
Enjoy!

I love this – you are so creative in your #crochet patterns!
Do the chain 2's count as one of the dc?
The pattern says the chain 2 counts as a double crochet. Mine isn't coming out right. Any suggestions?

Yes, the Ch 2 does count as first double crochet! So sorry for the mix up.
Sorry for the confusion. The 2 chains should count as the first double crochet.
How could I make this bigger for a kindergarten?
I would love to know how to make this for a kindergartener as well! I love it!
Mine isn't working either..I come up with 22 dbl crochets in first round if the ch2 counts as a dbl????
